Ensure that the --experimental-encryption-provider-config argument is set as appropriate (API Server)
Encrypt etcd key-value store.etcd is a highly available key-value store used by Kubernetes deployments for persistent storage of all of its REST API objects. These objects are sensitive in nature and should be encrypted at rest to avoid any disclosures.
Risk Level: Low
Cloud Entity: Pods
CloudGuard Rule ID: D9.K8S.CRY.15
Covered by Spectral: Yes
Category: Compute
GSL LOGIC
KubernetesPod where labels contain [value='kube-apiserver'] and namespace = 'kube-system' should have spec.containers with [parsedArgs contain [key like 'experimental-encryption-provider-config' ]]
REMEDIATION
Follow the Kubernetes documentation and configure a EncryptionConfig file.
Then, edit the API server pod specification file $apiserverconf on the
master node and set the --experimental-encryption-provider-config parameter
to the path of that file:
--experimental-encryption-provider-config=</path/to/EncryptionConfig/File>
Pods
